    Default Great Horned Owl Revisted

    Same owl, same perch, different pose and crop. 40D, 400DO, f4.5, 1/50s, ISO 800, Eval Mtr, tripod mount, MLU with cable release.

    I think that the first one is better (you can see the horns), not to say that this is not great.

    Good job of framing and getting a sharp image at 1/50 sec. Missed the first one, but wish that this bird was looking right down the barrel of the lens...

    Good shot Steve, especially considering the low shutter speed. I like the vertical framing here. My only quibble is that the image feels a little too "cool" for my tastes. I went ahead and warmed it up for you, tell me what you think.

    Hi Steve. I like the vertical composition and placement of the bird in the frame on this one as well as Paul's repost with the warmer colors. As you know by now, I don't mind at all that the bird is not looking directly at you. However, I think, in this case, if the head was turned just enough to see the other eye, the image would be stronger. Well done.
