My favorite bird with leftover love for the rest! Taken from a boat in Texas, near Aransas a few years ago. Just a spit of land that was a wonderful thriving rookery for waders. However, no more, hurricane wiped it out last year. Although there were a good dozen reddish egrets, this fellow had the most vibrant blue lores and I was happy to place him atop this sunflower vegetation. I like the soft light and the beautiful shaggy head and mane plume feathers. Ok I love the beautiful head feathers and mane!

Cool shot of the bird and the habitat with those yellow flowers. Nice wing position. I do wish the head angle was a bit better though. Seems like some noise on the birds wings but should not be at such a low ISO with the 1dx.

Nice frame Ann, I do wish for a better HA though, and a better wing position, just a bit more dynamic...... I like that we can see the feet

Very nice. Great looking bird and a neat flight pose. I like the flowers on the bottom of the frame.

Superb quality & detail Ann! I love the pink, blue & rusty color combo! A keeper for sure!

My favorite too... To image one in full mating plumage and color in flight with sunflowers below is a dream... Only thing could improve this is if it were the one bird I'd want more, the white morph in same conditions... TFS

Bird looks great but for the fact that it was looking for a girlfriend ... The o-o-f flowers look really funky. I can't decide if that is good or bad.

    with love, artie
