I have been wanting an image of this species for quite a while. A pair of them showed up at a local spot on Staten Island and I chased them 4 times until I finally caught up with them. There was a fading breeding plumaged adult and this juvenile. Taken shortly before sunset on 10/22/18. They are quite rare on Staten Island with only a few previous records so I was really pleased to not only get an image that I wanted but also to get it on my local turf.

    Canon 1dx mark ii and the borrowed Canon 500 f4 i + 1.4x iii. ISO 1250, SS 1/2500, F8.

Ticks all the boxes for me Isaac, great low perspective, nice light very sharp, and the little droplet rounds the frame off nicely

Super nice image Isaac, and all your good effort paid off handsomely. POV, SH, details, and a lovely soft BG, with a lone drop at the tip of the bill... Very sweet.

Good catch, Isaac. Persistence pays off. Great POV, sharp bird and soft BG.

Nice low angle with some nice light. I like the water drop just on the end of the bill.

Beautiful. I love the low angle and the partial reflection. It looks a bit fresher than the one you got me on last OCT at Heckscher.
