I converted a BG layer of the orig. to b/w, then erased the b/w over the flower and green stem, adding tinting to these areas. Next, I resized down to 795k per side, made another dup layer and applied the accented edges filter to it, backing off the opacity of this layer. Oh, I also pulled some of the gray BG foliage out a bit with the liquify filter.
Wow! I have to say this one really works for me! Love the FG, the subject and the BG. Your interpretation of this iris is just a beautiful piece of art IMHO. I think you probably could have left a smidge more room at the top but the rest of the comp is gorgeous.
I bet you never in a million years thought that one day you'd be sitting around in your spare time hand tinting flower photographs, eh? But look at you go!
