What a gorgeous looking bird Artie, so dramatic against the black BG, wow!

Beautiful image with Dark background

I like the alert pose and the gorgeous red patch around the eye (must be a name for it but I am going to have to plead ignorance). Lovely feather detail and the bird looks good against the black background. Is the tip of the bill slightly soft, or is it my failing eyesight? TFS

Very nice indeed, it's a pity the bill tip is OOF, otherwise very dramatic and a little different, I like it.

Yes the bill tip is sllghtly soft due to lack of d-o-f but the truth is that I could care less :) I would likely have had to go to ISO 2500 or more to see any difference at such close range ...

Artie ISO 2500 or ISO 25000 with a IDX Mk II is a walk in the park - honest!( look in the Wildlife Forum.)

Killer frame Artie. I love everything about it from the fantastic details to the dramatic colors and the dark background.

Love this. the dark feathers on the black BG looks real good. The red and white pop nicely. Good work.

Great portrait, the red and white feathers fit perfectly to the black background. The beak unfortunately has a slight blur. Too close?
