Square crops are not my favourite in nature photography, but felt this one works. Beanbag, front pax seat, curves, levels, TK adj's in ACR & PS CC '19.

Love the gaze in those eyes. Nice and sharp with great detail. The square crop works very well.

Nothing like great eye contact in a Leopard shot...Great pose and the crop works well.
Right ear looks a little odd...Loss of detail or maybe NR?

    Neither Dumay,

it's the light fluffy protruding inner ear hairs intersecting with the BG, just looks a little different against the evening light.

Nice portrait, There might also be some motion blur if he was flicking that ear.

That's always a possibility of course, but in this case the ear isn't flicking and remains pretty sharp.

Wow Marc. I am amazed you could get this IQ with D500 and 500 PF. This is a beautiful portrait and what expression leopard has given you. You really made most of the opportunity you were presented.

Both make for a fantastic combo Jay, I have my ISO ceiling for the D500 set @ 5000, so still plenty of scope there and can highly recommend the new light weight 500PF granted it's f/5.6 and you have "reasonable" light.

I head back to Central & Northern Serengeti for a month on Sunday and think this outfit will make for a great Cheetah chase tool.

Such a beautiful young leopard, Marc. Lovely pose, nice POV, superb eye contact. Colours look good and the BG is awesome.

Hope the Serengeti rewards you with wonderful images, whew... you are going for a month - I am so jealous!

Have a wonderful trip, travel safely

What a magical portrait ! The detail is delightful. Square crop is spot on and agree that the funny ear is simply protruding hair/fur

What a beautiful leopard portrait, Mark. Great late afternoon soft light, fine detail and like his termite mound perch.
