While trying to photograph a pair of Northern Harriers in a nearby grassland the other day, I had to contend with them either flying in the wrong direction, or being obscured by trees. I did take note of several families of White-tailed Deer walking around not far from my position. It was late afternoon, so the light was quite good. Here is a young male that was fairly relaxed, but aware of the other deer and my presence. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey - Looks like the light was very nice. I too would like to see the color. The conversion isn't really working for me as it rather dark and flat without a lot of tonal range. I took it into PS and gave it a boost with a curves layer but it would be better from the RAW. It looks like the tonal range is there but that in your pp choices you emphasized the darker tones. Personally, I would not go for as much brown toning either. If this is ff then a more pano crop without the trees at the top would also work well.
I like images with shallower DOF so the clean BG is really working for me. I am personally not a fan of the conversion. I would like to see the color version.
Overall scene and composition working nicely here Geoffrey and Rachel's curves boost RP has taken this up a notch, however this particular toned B&W is not quite working for me here also.
Thanks everyone, and for your suggestions. Rachel, thanks for your repost. I took your advice and made some adjustments with curves. Toning warmed up after posting.
