    Default Bear Cubs

It has been a while since I posted a bear image. Taken last year at Silver Salmon Creek Lodge in Alaska. These 2 one-year old cubs where playing when they took a brief pause to see what mom and the third cub were up to.

HH, about 20% crop for comp, curves, color adjustments, selective burning of grass, sharpened in PSCC.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

I think you captured the moment well Rachel, the only problem for me is that I do not feel any engagement with the bears - they are looking elsewhere.

Looking good. Like the pose on both bears and the grasses. Plenty of room for the bears to look into. Nice and sharp.

As both bears a looking in the same direction then I don't think there is a need to engage with the view Rachel. Nice colours, DoF & sharpness.

I fully agree - if animals keep looking at photographers in the shots then the photographers are the centre of attention and not what else may be happening in the scene. Both kinds of images have their place, of course, but one of the main concepts I try to teach in my workshops is that "if the animal is looking straight down the lens barrel, they can't be focused on much else!".

Nice tones and love the fluffy fur, Rachel.
I can see it working with a crop off the top to remove the dark BG band?

Hi Rachel, such lovable, huggable subjects captured with such perfection. Love the contrast, moment, details, colors. I also added visit to Silver Salmon Creek lodge to my bucket list. TFS.

Thanks everyone. I obviously agree with Steve and Morkel about eye contact.

    Love those cubs, Rachel.

And I completely agree with Steve and Morkel, in this case no need for the subjects to actually engage with the camera. Since both bears are obviously preoccupied with something...Nice to leave something to the viewer's imagination
A well framed and well processed image with lovely detail and colours, pose is superb. I like this as presented Rachel, wonderful work

    Warmest regards,
