I've not been around much recently Dumay, so don't know about your 'save quality' issues. However, the IQ looks fine to me here, albeit it wold have been nicer to have seen it displayed a little larger.

Fantastic pose, love the look straight down the throat and the view of the teeth - the little trickles of water are a nice touch.

Have you thought of maybe burning the whites inside the mouth a bit, I think they could take a bit of a taming, and maybe a bit more canvas below if you have it.

Well timed, you have some tricky lighting there. I would suggest a little adjustment of the oranges and reds at raw stage would help tame the shiny parts of the mouth interior, i think this would make quite a difference.

Hi Dumay, sadly I would say not. I did send you a PM when you last posted but have not heard back as I have to email you what you need to know, PM's will not allow me. I'm off again as of tomorrow evening so need the info so I can mail things to you.

Please note you can post bigger, ie 1200 high or 1600 wide, you can go bigger but I personally cannot see the point.

I will hold fire on adding my thoughts in case you choose to add a larger posting with more IQ.

    cheers

Hi Dumay -- the IQ definitely looks a bit off as per your standards , certainly that save issue is not sorted out .

agree with Jonathan regarding the adjustments of orange and reds and also i would have liked some more space at the bottom of the frame .

Agree with comments above here Dumay and this is not indicative of your normal work, let's see when you repost. The highlights in a hippo's mouth always present a challenge to tame.

Hi everyone, thanks for your thoughts...I will try and get it resolved. Its so frustrating.

Mike I agree with you on the space below. My thoughts before I posted it. Colours are a little warm too.

The image looks sharp on my HD iMac, but soft on my MacBook Pro retina....

I have reworked the image. Dropped the warmth, tried to salvage the hi-lights.

    Hello Dumay,

Repost is much better and you tamed the HL quite nicely. Cheeks and eye look sharp to me but inside the mouth looks a tad softer, maybe not enough DoF?

Love the way the subject fills the frame, beautiful light too.

Please do not lose your patience with those processing glitches and post some more. I personally enjoy your images - very much

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Dumay, the RP is better but I think a bit more selective sharpening would help too.

Shooting Hippos with the mouth open can often be tricky because of the DoF and so I would normally if light is good as per here, shoot f/11 with a SS of 1/2500, if closer f/14 if you are shooting direct down the barrel. I think the FP was down the throat and so the from jaw is slightly OOF(?) with f/7.1. The small white HL's forget, nothing you can do, I would remove because of their size and minimal spots. Agree, a bit more below, but in the heat of the moment, were there more opportunities as you could have zoomed out a bit more?

BTW Checkout my posting on Page 3

I hope we have now resolved your Save for Web issues, email me as it's easier.

A fantastic in your face image that does a good job of correctly portraying these beautiful beasts. I agree that some sharpening would improve the image
