Hi John - I like the stalking pose. The comp works well too. Did you lift the shadows? They look a little noisy. Nice one overall.

Both framing and pose work well, the front leg angle is cool.

Overall the image looks dark, with the 'darks' masking the image and adding to the rather \crunchy' appearance in the face . Both colour & WB can also be improved. Think you could also loose a little off the top. I would have gone a bit more on the ISO to say gain minimum of 1/1600 as the subject was on the move. I hope you have change the 'Cases settings' John, they are there to aid capture and more refined with the 5D4.

Indeed very nice walking pose and focused expression from this Coyote. Composition looks good, John. I have no idea of the colour of this species but I like Steve's" lighter" version as it visibly reduces the contrasty/crunchy appearance on the subject as well as surroundings. I think he reduced the saturation to some extent as well.

Overall a very nice capture and the HA is great. Good DoF too, the coyote stands out nicely against the BG.

Those Smoky Mountains are magic, John. How far is the place from you? Hope you have more opportunities in the future, looking forward to see what other species you encounter

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Rachel, Lowered the exposure. No lifting.

    Kind regards,
Thank you Gabriela, The Smoky Mountains are a twelve hour drive from where i live in New York. That is about 750 miles.
