    Default Snow goose in flight

I'm never going to bother with Bosque again! Not with even better chances with the snow geese only a 2 hour drive away in Victoriaville, QC at the Baudet Reservoir. I'm feeling a bit cursed lately; I took over 400 photos, both portraits and flight, but only kept three at the end of the day, since there seemed to be something wrong with almost every single one of the pictures! Getting one snow goose by itself is quite difficult. Getting one by itself with a clean background and no extraneous white reflections creeping in (that you can't photoshop out)? I think I'll need to go back and try again while they're still here.

This is a flight shot as the sun was starting to set and creating some interesting skies for the birds to fly against. I cropped to about 66% of the original in 16:9 and added a touch of canvas at the top. I'm not loving the big crop but the bird was a bit small in the frame to begin with.

Nice bird, nice BKGR. If the near0wing were raised a bit more it would have eliminated the small bit of shadow near the primaries.

    Was this at Bosque?

Not Bosque! Baudet Reservoir in Victoriaville, Quebec, about 1:45 drive from my place. 10x better than Bosque!

I think the crop looks pretty good. Wispy white behind makes for an interesting background. Exposure looks perfect, I wouldn't sweat the tiny shadow Artie points out.

The white bird against the dark clouds is very appealing. The pose and crop are spot on.

Hi Dorian, I was simply pointing out what I would consider ideal. No sweat here.

I like the open wing position.

I am going to Bosque again this winter. This is the closest place for me to visit during winters :-)
