    Default bear fight

    Attached Images Attached Images

The slim female Kamchatka Brown Bear on the left is going after the male to scare him away in order to protect her cubs. She was not getting enough fish, with her eyes on the cubs all the time, may not survive the winter. Light is a bit icky in the middle of the day, could remove the gull's wing...
    400mm, 1/2500, f5.6, ISO400. Processed in Lightroom.

Hi Greg - Fantastic action. You handled the light well. Love the inclusion of the cubs looking on. You don't say if this is ff or cropped. If you have more room, I would like a bit more both left and right. I have added the Theme prefix, please remember to use it in the future for your images to be eligible.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Nice view of this bear fight. Like the interaction and the cubs in the background. More room left and right would be nice.

Lovely interaction Greg..I like the detail you captured with a nice POV. Yes I would remove the Gull's wing. Very nice with lovely colours throughout.

Thanks Will, John and Rachel for commenting. This was cropped a little, I have no more on the left so cropped to be equal on both sides. And I wanted to cut out the far lake shore just coming in at the top on the full frame.
Rachel I know I did not have 'Theme', I had intended this for critique only. Thanks all.

    Hi Greg works !!!
Stunning action and the female´s aggression is easily to see .
Well timed and you had some nice light ... the youngsters adding to the scene but are somehow disturbing at the same time from the aesthetic POV .
Yes a bit tight all around ....
    Lovely colors ..as well

Exposure well handled for the stated time of day. I love their poses.
Yes to more room on either side. Although the gull wing is less than ideal, I would leave it as per my own personal processing ethics, but your call eh!

Lovely action shot Greg! I love the gaping mouths and the nervous looks of the cubs. You have my vote for a little more room on the sides.

Hi Greg -- a lovely action shot, loved the expressions and the colours are looking nice as well. framing is definitely tight but works for me as far as the action is the primary thing to watch . the cubs in the bkg are ok but the wing coming behind the bear on the rhs is a bit distracting .

    nicely done.

    TFS !

Jay, not sure exactly what you see, but the left from leg of the female is pushing the male, the top part of that is lighter in the sun, but the leg is behind the jaws. Also, bears have a lot of softish flesh ahead of the front of the teeth, maybe 3cms, this, including the nostrils can flop around with fast movement.
