4 African Wild Dog from a pack of 11 harass and escort a panicky hyena out of their area.
This turned out to be a brilliant morning as we tracked this pack chasing & harassing Hyena on 3 different occassions, a family of Warthog and a very rare encounter with a small herd of Sable as they tried to isolate a small calf.
Captured with the brilliant new Nikkor 500 PF lens, what a delight to use at about the size/weight of a 70-200 2.8, and sharp wide open.

Hi Marc - I think you have posted images from a similar sighting before so you have good luck with the dogs and hyena. I like the interaction and that we can see the hyena's reaction to presumably getting nipped. I bet the sounds were amazing too. There is a slight magenta/purple cast to the kicked up dust that I would correct if it were mine.
TFS,
Rachel

Reason: Realized new sighting due to lens
Great story here of an age-old rivalry. I am interested in that lens for sure, been keen to test it since its announcement.
How about cropping more pano to focus more on the action and eliminate the effect of the BG treeline?
I love this shot Marc! The 'number of butts' make one feel that you're part of the pack, helping them to chase off this intruder. That feeling is strengthened by the agitated look-around by the hyena. Lovely shot!
Great story and image. I think image as presented really works for me. Looking for image within image, I would crop more pano as Morkel suggested but also crop out dog on the LHS so that Hyena reaction gets full attention. It would be another interesting image.
