I think there are too many similar tones resulting in a rather flat looking monochrome. I think the colour version will look a lot better (??)

    Hello Rachel,

A well composed frame and the subject stands out nicely against the background. The presence of vegetation helps break monotony and adds to the image.

Wondering what happened if you decided to go for a more contrasty, sketchy look? This is well processed and you managed to extract good detail in the eye, I just feel it needs more "punch", if I may say so.

Nice HA, cute expression and I like the little "pouch" - I guess she was nibbling on something

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Like the composition and the background is nice. The color version looks just as good i bet.

Agree with others that this is not quite working as a mono conversion Rachel, sorry, it does appear quite flat tonally.

Hi Rachel ...sorry to say , not really working for me for the above named reasons by the others .
I am also surprised to see the image not as detailed / sharp as your normal postings ?
A color version might work better ..

I think the framing works rachel, but not the conversion sadly, it's all bit dark within the mid tones to darks with little contrast for a B/W image. I feel this is where the 'choice' of image has be with understanding of the main colours and how they will reflect in the conversion. This is why, there are certain colour filters for when you shoot in B/W to give the image that contrast.

Hi Rachel...I also like the framing and do agree on the conversion not quite working. I think if you play around with various B&W options in NIK Silver Effects you will come up with a conversion that does work though.

Thanks everyone for the honest comments. I'll put this one aside and maybe revisit it in the future.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel
