I returned to Dunham Massey , there was a little bellowing but no serious rutting. Just slowly approaching and feigning indifference toward the deer they came close even though I had Barney with me. This buck just gave us a bit of a sideways glance as he ambled by.

Hi Jon, great that these Deer are not spooked by humans, or indeed 'wild' dogs and you can get close.

A bit of a scary eye, just wished for a bit more head turn to help show off the rack and some more below. Personally a bit heavy on the Contrast/Blacks, but the warm saturation looks reflective of the weather we have at present.

Hi Jon - Interesting that they don't mind Barney and I take it Barney doesn't bark at the deer either. Lovely light and autumn tones. I would prefer a sliver more below. With the side eye and the feet positioned as they are, it looks like he might be getting ready to run away.

Thanks Rachel, I was lying down when I took this so going any lower I would have had grass stalks interfering. Barney is good as gold, I used him as a big bean bag for some shots!

Hi Jon this works well !!
A super low POV which i really like , the comp , colours and overall tones are working nicely together .
Lovely light ...and a nice stag , well he does look very fat though , wonder if he can follow the females .

Agree with Steve about the contrast and blacks ...

Indeed a fine image Jon and I love the colours and warmth

Techs look good, exposure also, so does framing - but maybe a tad more at the bottom if you have it?

Beautiful detail on the subject and I like those textures on its fur. Good sharpness, well processed too.

Very nice work, a pleasure to view this tonight, TFS!

    Kind regards,

Thanks for the comments everyone much appreciated. I note the comments regarding a little more space at the base, my defence was that I case the AF point that gave me the most space without zooming out which I dodn't want to do, I wanted to keep him quite large in the frame to look as though he was close. Focus lock wasn't an option as he was moving.
