I captured this image at the rookery in the alligator breeding pond in Gatorland, Orlando, Florida. I reworked the image recently with the new tools in upgrades to Lightroom and Photoshop.

    Nikon D500
Nikon 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF-S ED image captured at 400mm
1/1000 F/8 Matrix Metering EV +1/3 ISO 900 Auto 1 WB, camera supported by a monopod
Post processed in Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC 2019 and Neat Image for noise reduction
    Cropped for composition and presentation

What an elegant beauty you've captured here, Joe. Great pose and head turn, with nice feather detail. Like the pinkish feathers on the head. Couldn't ask for a better BG.

Light looks harsh but you have handled it very well. Great pose with a great background.

Super exposure on those blacks, and great detail throughout. This is a really nice image, Joseph.

Jo this is a really excellent shot, the plumage is super, purely a consideration to lifting the blacks a tiny bit.
One thing that will help significantly is to make a selection of the bill then make a curves adjustment layer with Luminosity and gradually pull down the highlights - just watch the detail reveal!

Nice one Joe, good to revisit old files occasionally with updated Software, goes to show how good the original capture was.

I like everything about this one but the salt-encrusted bill.
