Love the low angle, light, perfect DOF and composition. You got them(those eyes) all perfectly. The FG vegetation may bother some, I'm OK with it. Wish for a little more on top and bottom. TFS
I might just remove the three circular dark brown 'flower blobs' by the middle & RH owl, looks cleaner??? You could also just run a blur at the foot, but not a deal breaker.

Hi Steve, I like your edit and see your point regarding a cleaner image. I didn't remove anything in the image because I am considering entering a few nature photography contests next year. Most of the rules I have read do not allow removing or adding anything from the images submitted. So I guess I am practicing finding pleasing compositions without removing or adding to the image. It is a total change from past practices, in the field and on the computer. Thanks for viewing, commenting and editing the image to suggest improvements. Much appreciated...

Some of those dry flowers did catch my eye, and when scrolling down saw that Steve plucked them out. It does improve the image IMO. You can still create a "cleaner" version for your personal enjoyment, and a "true" version for contests. In any case, I love the various head angles and striking eyes.
sweet image Joe. Great having all 3 in view. I have also been posting images where I am not cloning things. Trying to push myself to get the best image possible in the field. I prefer the brighter and warmer repost. While subtle, I think it makes a significant difference in the final presentation.

Excellent Joe, just try to keep your SS high as possible, but mindful of your ISO, so many keep the SS low and that is old school for digital and use your DoF preview button to help 'master' the right DoF. Here I think you may have needed to go to say f/11 to get all in & sharp, but right to go for the centre one. If you need any help re 'comps/LR/PS' shout, but don't leave thing too late as I'm off again to far off places at the end of next month and play with some of Canon's new releases.
For me, wider would have been better. Along with a better head angle for the bird on our right ...
