Very nice, John. The pastel blue and green plant are a very nice touch of color to the contrasty and sharp subject. I'd love to see him set in the frame a a bit more,
but I suspect the OOF stuff at the bottom might become an isshe with a wider crop.

I love this one, John. It's a very handsome and photogenic bird even by itself, but for me there are other elements that also make this work. The small in-focus plant just left of the bird is a neat feature that counterbalances the bird in the composition. And the blue band in the BG (sky, or water's edge?) is nicely positioned against the bird's head. For me, the bird is also well positioned in the frame. The only nit I can find is the small horizontal black element that crosses behind the bird's legs, but the latter seem to have enough color and texture of their own that this isn't too much of a distraction.

    Cheers, David

I like how the background goes san to blue where the plumage goes white to black, very pleasing.

Nice habitat, sharp, but several problems for me. The dark and mid-tones are too dark. The shoreline through the head is a bummer. As is the large white ??? in the upper right corner.

    with love, artie
