    Default Ruddy Turnstone with prey

This Ruddy Turnstone was photographed on the beaches of New York City at last light which is my favorite time of the day for photography. From early August of this year. The whites on this bird were bright and super white so I decided to leave it like that as it really showed the direct sun of the late evening light.

Super nice Isaac, IQ, balanced prey item and that perfect HA. Wonderful exposure, and clean BG and beach. POV, light, all makes this ruddy sweet. Fine camera work.

    Lovely image.
Your low POV rocks and you have a perfect HA.
Light is perfect. Whites look great.
The mollusc in the beak is really nice.
Pano crop works well and I could see a version with a bit more off the bottom.

Nice all around. Like the low angle and the pose is perfect and of course the prey as well.

This is really nice, even with the slightly hot whites. I really don't mind them since this is how the birds appear in the field. I think we sometime artificially mute the white just to satisfy technical requirements. Low angle is dope....

Sweet frame, with great pose, colors, POV. Gail summed it up nicely. Very well done, Isaac.

Fab frame Isaac..Love that stooped down look on the bird. Great POV. IQ is spot on here. Lovely HA and I like your chosen crop. Good work.

WHITEs look fine. SH and pose look great as well as does the tiny clam.

Was the beach this clean or did you do some clean up?

Cloned out a small bit of foam to the right of the bird and a tiny shell in front of the bird. I picked the cleanest part of the beach I could find to set up and wait. There were a few out of focus shells in front of the bird on the bottom of the frame but they were cropped out by the 16:9 crop.

Thanks. I am confused as you recently posted this: I have also been posting images where I am not cloning things. Trying to push myself to get the best image possible in the field.

As you well know I have nothing against background clean-up (though I rarely if ever use the Clone Stamp Too). But as above, you seem to be adopting a holier than thou attitude except when you feel that background clean-up will improve the image ...

Holier than thou? We clearly do not see eye to eye on many things. How exactly is trying to get the best image in the field holier than thou? I never said that I never do clean up, only that I am trying to do as little as possible. Setting up in the best and cleanest part of the beach makes keeping the image as true as possible easy. Had this bird turned my way 7 inches sooner I would not have needed to do anything. Had that wave in the back not had a piece of foam floating as the bird was walking by then I would not have needed anything. I was going after a clean shot here in evening light, chance made it that I needed to do some work to get it as I was not able to pull it off in the field. I am not in favor of dramatically changing images by adding backgrounds or cut and pasting birds, etc. but a touch of clean up is fine. I also am not a fan of repairing clipped wings or other such things. What ever works for other people is OK as well as it is their photos.
