I will be away from the boards for the next 3 weeks. I will be on a non-birding vacation. It will be so nice to travel lightly without the camera gear.
One last pic for the road.

Killer background Gail. Hard to imagine a better background for a shorebird picture. I like the pose here with the raised foot and the rock makes for a nice and different perch. Light looked a touch harsh here and you were just off the sun angle but the shadows are not too bad. Biggest problem for me is that the head does not look tack sharp on the 5k imac and I wish the bird was turned a few degrees more towards us.

Looks like this guy has a "leg up" on you! Super nice legs and golden BG for this shorebird, lovely warm color. I like the alert eye contact and sharp coverage of the entire bird. I have a 5K imac as well Isaac and don't see where you notice the head not to be tack sharp? Would you be able to show us a version that we can compare? Also, there is a horizontal line about two inches long above your signature that draws my eye... Have a safe and wonderful trip.

I thought about cloning that out but decided to leave as is. Easy peasy to redo. Thanks Ann.
Isaac- This image is tack sharp on my 21 " monitor and also sharp when I zoom in to 100% on DPP. Perhaps it needs a different sharpening recipe for the 27"?
The following frame was taken a minute before- do you see this one as sharp? I sharpened it a bit more than the previous image.

The raised foot on the rock perch is nice. Love that green background as well.

Perhaps because the bird is somewhat small in the frame and these juveniles have really fine feathers on their face it is not coming through as tack sharp on my screen. Neither look 100% perfect on the 5k imac, but only their faces. Could be the size or perhaps just the way I see it. But I like the pose on the second shot much more. Beautiful lines and such an elegant pose. Also I would increase the exposure on the darkest feathers of the bird as they seem a bit dark.

Ann I don't want to post one of my shots on Gail's thread. I will post a photo of a Greater Yellowlegs tomorrow so you can see what I mean. Now you are making me post 2 days in a row!

I think both shots look really good; If they aren't 'tack sharp', then they're 99% of the way there! I don't have a preference between the two. The raised foot in nice in the first and the head turn is nice in the second.

Two great shots, of the two I like the second a bit more.

I like the second post best. What a great looking pose. BG killer and lovely POV. I can see where Isaac is coming from regarding the sharpness to the head, but, for me, this is sharp enough and shows the details well. I think this would look real good printed large. Nice work.

I like them both but I prefer the 2nd one a bit more. I don't find them razor sharp but I find them more than acceptably sharp.
The BG is awesome and makes the image that much nicer. Well done Gail

Both images of this first winter bird look more than sharp enough for me. But nobody has ever accused me of pixel-peeping. And, I love them both but for the whitish area lower right corner. And yes, the BKGR is killer.
