Great up close shot. I think f/7.1 worked well for you here to capture more detail. I like the tones you selected; very earthy and compliments the texture of the skin well.

Hi Andreas -- Great to have you back, and what a magnificent BW image to start with. I liked the details in the hide and the textures that it has got. Nice techs as well. I would have liked some more space for the ear which would have also provided the space for the trunk , but not a deal breaker. The water droplets also adds to the image, lots to like here .

And how was Khwai ? will wait for the images from that region .

Wow a (strong) tone B&W here Andreas , you always told me they weren't your thing.

Love the curled drinking trunk with nice texture & detail here, although the tone is just little too strong even for me.

Very nice. The composition works quite well. The detail and textures on the elephant are nice.

I like this, mein freund! Good texture and framing - have to agree with Marc I would just desaturate the tone slightly.
Looking forward to more images from your trip!

Hi Andreas - Good to have you back and commenting. You have been missed. I like the detailed textures and the comp here though I do feel the elephant is just slightly angles away from the sensor. The tones are always a personal choice and I too would probably go a little more light handed here. Nice one.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thanks Rachel and Morkel for your comments ... much appreciated .
Rachel ....the Ellie is indeed slightly angled away , but no big deal for me . And i do not change the position constantly .....
