Hi Sanjeev, cracking image but the conversion is just flat with no real transition from B to W, look at the colour strip at the foot of the page, see how it tonally works. It's hard but you need to think differently with tones of Blacks. I haven't the grounding Rachel & Morkel have, I just revert back to my college days of B&W printing, but I'm sure they can expand.

    Perhaps something like this?

    Cheers
    Steve

Thanks Steve, I tried Nik Silver Efex but felt it looked a bit over processed so i tried it in PS. Thanks for the RP. It looks better. I have a colour version so I will post that later.

Hi Sanjeev - Nice sharp leopard and look to camera. For me, this isn't working as a conversion because there's just too much neutral tones and not the tonal variance that really elevates a black & white image. As I said in some of Haseeb's threads and my own, for b&w subjects I now look for the tonal variance between the bg and the subject so light subject against dark bg or dark subject against light bg. Steve has given it a bit more punch and variance in his rp but I think the overall problem is the image doesn't have that variance needed. I hope this helps a little.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Sorry Sanjeev, but not quite working for me here, for me B&W imagery is all about tonal variation, and it's all too flat/neutral here, granted Steve's RP has given this a slight lift.

It's interesting ...........One can definetely spot the subtle differences between Leopards from Africa and the sub continent.

Hi Sanjeev a lovely shot of the leopard , well captured . But has to be presented in color IMHO .
The B&W does not work ....even NIK does not help here !!!!
Even the Master of tonal variation ....does not make it more pleasing to me , sorry .

Does not make any sense to me , as it does not work for me in B&W , easy as that .
Got nothing to do with your RP , simply do not see potential to make it work.Just miss the color .
The Leopard that Marc posted does work in B&W as it has a simple content , and not that busy stuff that is in this shot.
