Taken at Djuma in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa. Another one I converted in ACR and did not process in color. I know some won't like the grasses but they don't bother me because the eyes are clear of the grasses.

The grasses don't bother me Rachel, but I would crop some off the top and to the LHS so the subject is more - filling the frame.

A cool shot Rachel, the grasses are fine by me as well and Steve's suggestion reg crop is worth trying. The details are great and so is the conversion.

I don't mind the grasses. The view of the lioness is nice. Bet this looks good in color.

I like the grass, and the detail on the lioness, as well as the tonal range. For me the main facial features might be a bit too centered in the frame.

Nice conversion Rachel - the RP certainly looks better with the suggested crop. Even the grass doesn't bother me. Eyes look very expressive and there are some nice tones and textures which are important for a BW image IMO . nicely done .

    TFS !

Hi Rachel, great conversion, and you have also brought out good detail on the Lioness. I like the intent stare ahead, and when shooting in Africa, there will always be grass - not that its distracting here. I was fine with the comp in the OP, but your RP does work better.
