Hi Joe, nice open talons on this osprey. i would wish for a better head angle so the wing wouldn't be intersecting. Also, I think the shadow on the body was unfortunate and has left that area a bit noisy. I detect some hotspots throughout, overall, I do like the landing pose.
Love the simple perch and the raised foot as he lands.
Very intense look.
I am OK with the head intersecting the far wing and agree with Ann about some hot whites (the only area I would worry about and try to salvage is the area on the leg/thigh)

I like the pose and perch. I am puzzled that the darks show noise at that ISO especially when some of the whites are a little hot (??). If this is cropped I would reduce the crop slightly, I suspect the noise would become less apparent.
All that I see when I look at this photo is the face in shadow; it could be opened up quite a bit.
with love, artie

Hi Jonathan, thank you for viewing and commenting. I used a different workflow on this image, from what you are confirming in your comments I should have used my normal workflow. Normally when I convert the image to a 16bit TIFF in Photoshop I open the Neat Image Plugin and reduce the noise on the whole image by 60% of the noise value determined by Neat Image. In this image I excluded the bird from the noise reduction and it is showing in the dark areas. I have worked up the image again addressing yours and Artie's comments and will repost soon.
