    Default Kelp Gull

This was captured in Cape Town at the sewerage works early, early morning. Before you ask, no odour, just fresh crisp air. At this location, there are endless different flying subjects, and even a commom Kelp Gull gets the lens aimed at them. The BG is a distant garbage heap, so it was better than a plain sky BG. One of a few images I have processed at 1920 pix wide.

Hi Bud, you certainly get to some exotic locations to photography your subjects in.

Great set-up with the kit, with cracking detail. I like the fact you have the subject just on the transition strip, the warm orange of the garbage heap gives nice separation with the whites, distance between the two and kit has given a cool 'mottled' backdrop which I find very pleasing.

Like the downstroke pose on the gull. background looks great for a garbage heap. The composition works well here.

I like the wing position, sharpness, composition and how the garbage transformed into a nice BG. Excellent image Stuart!

Hi Stu, nice image of this gull. The color palette is quite wonderful. Good placement of the bird just below the transition line in the background. Thank you for sharing.

Sharp with a nice downstroke wing position and a perfect EXP. The problems are with the bird: all of the flight feathers are mega-worn and it looks as if it stuck its head in the -- well, in the toilet bowl ... And for me, the bird is too close to the transition line. The light and the colors are very nice.

Bird looks really nice and the colorful background is great. I have been to that sewage pond and loved every second of it. I do agree that the bird is a little too close to the transition line.
