    Very nice.
am puzzled by the fact that you lost images by formatting, if this was done in camera the images can still be recovered by using a recovery programme, such as that provided by Sandisk. As far as I understand in camera formating just allows the card to be overwritten I have recovered sucessfully you just loose the poriginal file numbering.

I like this image, I would only like to see this a bit tighter.

That is a beautiful owl and picture. Like at is, but also wonder if a vertical will work.
You definitely know where to find owls, very nice collection.

Stunning image !!! Love the sharp detail and eye contact but the composition puts it over for me. Really love this image Steve. Gorgeous !!!!

Just wonderful.....the habitat, the perch, all work so well. Plus, the flat "horns" on the owl are nice.

I love the composition as is. There is a perfect balance of bird / habitat here. 1/50s.?? good job keeping it sharp...tripod was a must!

Great image, I like the setting, soft light, BG and composition.

Definitely worth trying to recover the other images if you haven't used the card in the meantime.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. As for the lost images, the "replacement" ones I got were probably better anyway and the card that had the others was formatted and overwritten with other pictures already.

Glad that I found this one. I much prefer it to the second one because of the direct eye contact and the visible ears. Folks need to note the careful placement of the owl with regards to the BKGR grasses...
