    Dear Basil,

Wonderful capture and I love the ghostly appearance of the subject here. Great timing too, nice pose, I guess he gave you a one-second-glance before he disappeared into that tall grass?

I think there's a slight blue cast to the horns and L ear which you can remove if you like. In terms of comp I would have placed the subject a bit more to the right with more space on the LHS to look into.

Never seen the Caprivi Strip, it must be a magic place with stunning scenery and wonderful wildlife - please share more images if you have!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Basil, I like your thinking here, as many would be put off with the overlapping grasses. I also like the overall colour palette too.

Personally I feel being tighter, but keeping the same frame ratio would have been better, it's a little 'floating' in frame for me. Being lower I thing would have helped too. The grass over the eye is the killer for me, I can accept over the head, but you really want to ensure the eye is clear. I think going for shooting wide open was the right choice, no Idea on the placement of the FP, but going for central with the spot and using a selective 'Case' to avoid looking on to the FG would help.

Agree with Gabriela on removing the Blue cast on the subject, a quick fix.

Hi Basil - I think this is a beautiful image and like the comp with the look back pose and more room in the direction of the gaze. I too see the blue cast. An easy fix. The tall grasses here don't bother me as it is part of the camoflague effect. I would shift the frame down slightly so as to move the impala slightly off vertical center of the frame.

Like the composition with the whatever it is looking back in the frame. I don't mind the grasses. Shows the environment well.
