    Default Flipping a Flat Fish

From last weekend's red tide at Ft. DeSoto. I've surfed in red tide when it was hard to breathe, and this wasn't close to being that bad, but the fish population sure is taking a hit. The crabs handle it better than the fish. It seemed that every bird was eating everything out there. This was shot at 500mm with a Nikon 200-500 VR on a D7200, handheld. 1/2500, f/5.6, iso 400. Cropped a little tight to place emphasis on the water droplets and the slime.

Terrific capture and composition, but it looks dark to me. I'd increase your exposure and/or pull up the curve. Even with the white bird you can stand to brighten the image quite a bit. It should look terrific with a bit more light!

Edited to add the image. This was 10 seconds with exposure and curves. I took the brightest whites from around 210 to the 240s. Just make sure to do some noise reduction on the blue background, since increasing the exposure will also increase the noise.

Yes, this is a very cool shot!I love that we can see the scales on the fish. I agree that you could add some light, but I might have stopped a bit short of the repost!

Hey Bobby, Great action and perfect head angle. The fish angle/pose could have been a bit better. The repost by Jake is an improvement. I'd love to learn the fish species ...

I like the choice of crop, going in close to the action works really well. Even the slime looks good!

Nice repost by Jake, looks cleaner than the OP

Nice view of this egret with a great blue water background. Like the prey as well.

Well timed image Jake. I like the sharpness, catch, composition and BG color. Repost brings it up a notch for me.
