    Default Sable hurdler!

One from the archives and ties in with my trip tomorrow, I did post the Ram if I remember some 9 years ago now.

8.10am and a sub adult male Sable hurdles a stream with a trio of fleeing Red-billed Ox-pecker passengers.
I leave tomorrow chasing Sable, WD and cats big & small for 16 nights @ our part owned bushcamp in Moremi/Vumbura- Botswana, so until then.

    Moremi- Botswana.

Slight crop to pano, curves, levels, TK adj's in ACR & PS CC'18

    Nikon D3
    Nikkor 500 f/4VR
1/750s .........this still works and got away with it this time, but more S/S would have benefitted for sure
    f/4
    ISO 200
    1400px wide

    Cheers

    Hello Marc,

Whew, quite a leap from this handsome sable, well captured!
Love the composition and rich colours. Agree with you on SS, but really not bad for nine years ago... around that time I was still shooting everything with ISO 400 at F5.6

Hope you have a wonderful time in Botswana, travel safely and bring back lots of awesome images!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Neat frame. Like the grasses and the birds of course. That is a big leap. The composition works for me.

Hi Marc - I like the way the oxpeckers are flying in the opposite direction. Nice timing on the jump. Yes, you needed a bit more ss and I also wish it was angled slightly forward rather than away. I hope you have lots of great sightings in good light on your trip.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Any further forward and I would have been in the drink Rachel.

Yes, on the opposite side would be ideal, but rarely do we live in that world when shooting wildlife.

But that's what keeps us going back again and again - the quest for the perfect image!

Hi Marc -- Lovely colour palette and excellent timing to capture the jump. The ox peckers are adding to the scene .

I too feel that a bit more ss would have helped here and totally agree that nothing comes easy and perfect in wildlife , the quest must go on .

    Nicely done. TFS !

All the very best for Botswana , will wait for the images.

A sable leaping over a body of water is an image I would LOVE to have. Great timing

Terrific image Marc, and those oxpeckers too! One to be proud of, like everyone else I wish I had an image like that! I think I would try a little lifting of the shadows around the eye and neck, this could easily be overdone but I think a slight lift especially around the eye would help.
