I found this wood duck at a local pond this evening, on the fringe of the many bread-fed mallards. Only once before have I seen a wood duck on this pond, and that was far away.

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

Sweet light, sweet image. The top of the head is a bit lost in the darker reflections... An option with that nice wake would have been to have focused on the tail and put the bird in the front of the frame. Good job also on the EXP.

Lovely light reflecting fro the water, Grace. It needs a bit of CW rotation. She is a ham :)

Talk about emerald green water, this is great color. Perhaps more room in front of the duck? I like the pushing wake and the tail wake too.

Many times with trail wakes and birds running on water I like to place the subject more in front of the frame (as Artie suggests here above). I love the horizontal lines in the water.

    Nice one :)

I would have shot a abstarct of the water on its own - great patterns.
