Hello Jon,
This is such a lovely sighting and I must say it looks good for 1/250s. Just curious, is it a big crop?
Love the environment and mood overall. Not sure how long the subject's legs are, but frame might be a bit tight at the bottom, WDYT?
All in all a very interesting image, makes me think of a picture in a story book. Have you got more from this sighting, Jon?
Would love to see more as I really enjoyed this, very much. At first I found it a bit on the "cool" side and wished for a bit of warmth but you were there and you know best, just my thoughts...
Always a pleasure to view your images, thank you for sharing:)
Kind regards,

Thanks Gabriela, it was just cropped to 5:4, it was a cold wet morning. My original had all the foliage paler and brighter, I toned it down to increase apparent colour, its a couple of years ago now but from what I can remember or envisage I don't think it it too far from what it was.
As always I took a number of images in Auto ISO and I just dialled in different shutter speeds as and when I thought I had an acceptable capture. You will see it would not take much to be on ISO 4000 then 8000 which I did, but if I can get away with a lower ISO all well and good.
In my excitement I can recall not giving as much footroom as might be optimal..... I guess I was just so exited to be this near to a moose, I just never thought I would ever get so close! ..... Even thinking about it now brigs a smile to my face.

Cool moose. Details look good. Wish the moose was so centered in the frame. Easier to say after the fact.

As said the image has a lovely story book feeling to it. It looks a fascinating animal. There is enough space for the legs imho

Hi Jon - I think the cooler and softer colors look very natural here and accurate to the overcast, woodsy setting. I am ok with the more central placement with the tree on the left fg to balance and the moose looking to the right. Overall, I think this is one of your best moose images and like it a lot. Well done.

Rachel

Hi Jonathan -- Pretty late on this , but a lovely Moose image. Loved the settings and the colours look very nice. I understand that the things might have been overcast but i feel the image appears a bit dark to me. Looking at the histogram in LR I might increase the exp to say atleast +0.40 , still retains that overcast feel .
Nicely done.

Hi Jon, pretty neat capture, well framed and I particularly like the environment. I just find the colours looking a bit muted & flat, they all look a bit within the mid range with not darks & lights.
