    Default Incoming Great Egret

I've had a good run at these guys in flight this year. They are nearly not as numerous, nor approachable, as the ones in the southern U.S., therefore I have been rather pleased with these encounters. Here's another opportunity I had recently.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp (about 80% FF), left one plant in, but removed another that was ugly and out of place.

I love this image. The soft light, lovely wing position, trailing feet and lovely water colors= 10/10 from me.
I sometimes feel like there is no way someone can get a unique, beautiful image of a white egret but you have nailed it here!
The little plant takes it over the top.
Can't tell where you cloned so good PP here!

A beautiful image of the Great Egret!
The wing position and the toes just touching the water associate with a ballet dancer to me.
Obviously, the exposure is perfect as always … ; - )
I agree that the remaining plant add to the image.

What a lovely, dynamic image. Whites look great against the darker water, wing position perfect. I love the way what appears to be the wake of the dangling foot leads the eye directly to the small plant. Nicely done.

Absolutely beautiful capture, Daniel. Wonderful detail with exceptional wing position. Also like the BG which almost looks like fog lifting. Love the plant.

Perfect timing, nice soft light, killer braking pose, and the tiny plant is sublime.

Killer frame Daniel. Way to make a common bird look perfect. The pose, the color palette and that plant all compliment the bird perfectly.

Excellent image Daniel! Ideal wing position, nice soft light and raised feet really add to the image.

    Daniel:

Lovely indeed, for all the reasons mentioned. The shooting angle gives an enlarged sense of scale, which works great.
Great whites used to be very very uncommon in my area, but are starting to show up here do to climate change. You have inspired me to go looking for them!!

Thankfully, no sharks in Michigan, although we have lots of water!

    Cheers

These guys (the egrets, not the sharks LOL) were rare 10 years ago up here, and got the birders excited anytime one was sighted, but now they are rather common and many have started to ignore them. Not me .
