Captured this image in the Atchafalaya NWR a couple of months ago. I reworked the image today after learning a few things from BPN posts. ~80% crop. C&C appreciated.

Beautiful shot, Tim, with good feather detail and a complimentary background. My only nitpick is the clipped by the branch tail. I nearly uploaded a shot of the same species of bird, glad I didn't, mine can wait until tomorrow.

Neat image, Tim, great compo and clean BG. I'd probably go back in the yellow saturation a bit. Good use of fill flash!

Michael, thanks. I have an issue with the branch as well. Aren't these birds a blast to get in the viewfinder!

Fabs, I appreciate the feedback. Oversaturation seems to be my biggest problem.

Tim, it's a problem with digital, reds and yellow easily cook and hide the detail, so most of the time, we need to lower the sat to let the real image come through.

    Hi Tim,
I like the composition. I like the diagonal perch. The yellows do seem to be a bit over saturated, and the eye looks crystalized. I would tone down the catch light just a tad...

Good suggestions above. Yes to de-SAt the yellow about 10-15 points. And get rid of a few of those eye highlights. Otherwise sharp and lovely.

Nice pose and the diagonal of the perch is perfect. One more vote for pointers suggested above.

Thanks everyone. Here's a repost with the suggested changes. Do I need to desat the yellows more?

This little exercise showed me the difference between viewing an image in a browser and CS3. The browser renders the image with more saturated colors and a little darker.

    Thanks,

Tim I think you can still go back a few points.

Check this thread about color profile and make sure you check the convert to sRGB box if you Save for Web:

Thanks for the tip Fabs. I did not have my proof setup set properly. However, after making the necessary change, I still see a difference. I will check my profiles to make sure the correct one is being embedded.

Ok, for me to get my browser and CS3 to display the same image, I had to set my "Proof Setup" to Monitor RGB.

Repost is much better love the yellow of the bird against that BG.

    Works for me :)
