This is a square crop of a larger image that had a lot of undesirables below and to the side of the head and neck. I'm not sure if I was set on a square crop when I took the picture, but after bringing it into PS I settled on it as the best of my options. The Great egret was one of the many that live and breed at Gator Land near Orlando, Florida. During breeding season they get that incredible fire engine red eye and green lores. In this case, with more than minimum distance between myself and the bird, I went with a rather large f stop to ensure a blurred background.
