I find these waders real difficult to get close to in my hometown, so I was happy to get a few frames of this one as it flew past me, whilst at my usual perch at low tide. Captured about an hour before sunset.

Hi Will, I like the unusual bent wings here that give us plenty of wing views... BG with some wisp of whites is nice as well. Good fly-by!

Agree with Ann on this. Beautiful bird and nicely shown. Perhaps not perfect raised or downward wing stroke but still very nice and shows the beautiful barring of the underwing well enough. I would add a touch of selective sharpening to the head. Also would consider a 16:9 ratio as there seems to be a bit too much open space above and below the bird. If the image quality holds up I think that crop would be better.

Solid flight frame of this curlew. The composition works well and that wing position is something you don't usually see.

I agree with both Ann and Isaac on this one. Great-looking image and I like be unique wing position and the good look at the legs and feet. Details look good but I will selectively sharpen the head a hair more as suggested. Yes to the 16 x 9 crop also. Well done William.

    This is really good.
Unique wing position ( and I would love to see the next frame with wings fully up or down.)
Agree with a bit more sharpening.

Pretty darned good for a very hard to photograph species. I do not like the bent wing positions as that put the primaries of the near wing way out of focus.
