Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, juvenile in early morning light

This image was created on October 2, 2016 at Fort DeSoto Park, Tierra Verde, FL. I used the Induro GIT 304L/Mongoose M3.6-mounted Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens, the Canon Extender EF 2X III, and the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.) ISO 800. Evaluative metering +1 stop: 1/500 sec. at f/9 in Manual mode. AWB at seven fifty-two am on a clear morning. AI Servo Expand Shutter Button AF was active at the moment of exposure. The selected AF point was placed on the bird’s neck.

Like how the bird is tucked back in the frame. That light sure is sweet. Nice color in the water as well.

Beautiful detail on the bird. Lovely pose and HA. The natural looking BG shows the bird well. Love the eye. Nice one Artie.

Hi Artie, I went to your blog and it was very helpful to me, great to see the initial image w the yellow bitter cast, and what a difference reducing the color temperature, the blues warmed up, the bird, well, everything and it was such a difference. I like that the whites still have that "butter" and it wasn't sacrificed. Love the eye on the YCNH. Does clarity (increase) essentially sharpen? What does it do, and what does it do when you slide it to the left? Thank you

Sweet light and scene. The blue water with the green band on top is really nice. Bird looks great. Nice look at the eye. TFS

Nice pensive look on him. With the soft light, it sets the mellow mood perfectly. Details looks good with the 2X.
