I made this image Yesterday at Yuba Lake State Park, UT

I crawled on Belly for quite some distance, holding my 300 f/4 pf lens on Full frame D850 Camera

    Nikon D850, 300 f/4 PF + 1.4x TCIII
    ISO 1000, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec
    Manual Mode, Matrix Metering

I shot this image at sunset. I choose to reduce the Yellow cast.

I like the narrow d-o-f and the low perspective. Though it is soft, I find the line of the grass through the bird's head distracting. You did a good job of getting parallel to the subject and working with the 90 degree off angle light. Lastly, a stare right down the lens barrel would have made this one stronger.

    with love, artie

Love the low angle here. Great background as well. Agree with Arthur about the direction the bird is looking.

I like the soft color tones but the head angle is tough. It looks like he's missing an eye!

I agree with Artie re: head angle. The colour palette is very nice, nothing distracting in the foreground or background, and I like where he is placed in the frame. I would have stood up a bit to get the brown-green line above his head instead of running through the neck.
