Boy, this has become the shorebird bathing/after bath wing flap/jump year for so far this fall migration! Again the opportunity presented itself, and I got four cracks at it from four different individuals. I really dug the pose on this one best.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4 TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp, contrast and saturation tweaks to taste.
Love the high key look and those flaring tertials. Strange that the tertials on the bird's right side appear so much darker than the corresponding feathers on its left side. All else beyond reproach.
