I captured this image last Friday morning at Lake Mirror in Lakeland, Florida. I capture three quick frames then was pondering how to help the bird when it took flight to the other side of the lake. Looking closely at the plastic waste around the bill I think the bird will be able to dislodge it. I have many times seen a Anhinga the has impaled a fish on it's pointee bill struggle to dislodge the catch. Eventually all works out. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Daniel and Jack, thank you for viewing and commenting. I guess my thoughts on posting the image became lost somewhere. We are killing the enviroment with our discards whether it be incidental or mass dumping. I go to Circle B Bar Reserve often. I am angered and disappointed when I see a water bottle discarded after being emptied, thrown aside even after being lighter and crushable that could easily be carried out. I realize that it is only a certain few but why go there if the wildlife and presence of the place is so disrespected. Just my disappointment showing, wishing I could have helped the bird with the piece of trash on it's bill.

Hi Joe, I completely understand and that is where I was commenting from as well. As much as I wish it was a fish in the bill, the image certainly works as an educational standpoint when it comes to environmental issues.

Thanks Dan, much appreciated you chiming back in.

Ditto everything above plus the fact that the head angle is perfect. That allowed you to keep the bill sharp.

That's a really sharp image of this guy! The trash is both good and bad as noted. But it does make for interesting commentary on the way humans have trashed the planet.
