Default from the shadows... northern fulmar

This was taken in Iceland and a life bird for me. I sat nestled on the cliff top and had opportunity to shoot this seabird as it circled repeatedly. His mate was on a cliffside nest, so this fella stayed close-by and occasionally checked in, perching for seconds then taking to the air. I really liked the "drama" here, as the fulmar climbed away from the dark cliff's bottom. I tried DE to gain more detail and liked the difference.

DPP, cropped vertical, curves, stamped a few spots in black area, DE, sharpened, and NR...

    Hi,

I think this is an amazing pic of the Northern Fulmar.
Here in southern Africa we sometimes see the Southern Fulmar which is a rare visitor to our southern oceans, so not photographed often.
It is a pity the eye(s) were not more visible.
A nice action image with a background which I think complements the white bird.

Whoa girl! You had this in your files all this time and never pulled it out till now?! If we were golfing together I would call you a "sandbagger"!!
This is excellent Ann. Love the very dynamic wing pose and that great dark BG.
Tack sharp and exposure spot on!
    You did good here GF!

I like it a lot and the eyes look just fine to me. Is this a crop from a horizontal original or are you God's gift?

Sweet. Nicely seen and executed, to get him against the dark cliff face. Good wing position, and well exposed. DE did a nice job on the details.

Love that bird against that dark background. Nice flight pose as well. Well done.

White on black looks great, and I like the bit of colour the bill adds to the image. I'd be OK with some NR to the bottom area of the frame.
