    Default roseate tern

I thought I'd post this Roseate and ask for suggestions that would give me more details on the wings. My exposure depicts the true very light grey wings and I would like to show the detail that is there but increasing sharpening isn't the solution. Once I uploaded the image I realized there was a slight magenta cast so I added 3 points of green and i could see the improvement. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

nice pose and wing position, the blacks are blocked and could show a bit more details. the image can be a bit warmer too near wing a bit too close to the bottom edge

    Ann:

Such an elegant bird, great pose, subtle banding in the bg, all good.

So, getting more detail in the wings. A number of ways, but I used a combination of filters from Nik Color Efex pro. I selected the subject, and then applied a light pass of dynamic contrast within the Pro Contrast filter, then followed that by a light pass of Detail extractor filter, subject only. There is more detail to be had, but I didn't want to overdo it. Will be curious with other folks suggestions.

Well done by Randy. I was going to suggest something similar. Are you OK with the grays going darker in Randy's version?

    Artie:

How accurate do you think the grays are on the wings? I just don't know the bird well enough to know what it looks like in person.

Hi Artie and Randy, Thanks for the repost but the color change is not true to the roseate tern... I knew there was much more detail to be had when i lowered the exposure on the wings, but i need to keep the exposure as in OP. Also, when i check levels the blacks are within range, Arash refers to the blacks as blocked, i'm confused...

Hi Ann, great flight pose showing the complete dorsal view. I like the hint of clouds in the sky BG. I'm viewing on my laptop so cant comment on the colours. When Arash refers to the blacks being blocked, I think he is referring to that we cannot see any detail at all. These dark caps are difficult to expose correctly without over exposing a white subject.
