I made the image on Skomer Island last week.
I do not really like the oof grass in the front but do really like the grass around the bird. Any ideas, what to do with it?
I have two pictures, one of the bird looking to the left, one with bird looking to the right. I think, this one works better.

Reason: - bad english - :-)
I like the setting, pose and exposure control and don't think there is much you can do about the OOF grass. I might give it more room at the right and/or crop a bit off the left.
I really like the bird standing in the grass looking out. There's a nice mood here. I agree about needing more room on the right and I think a little off the top would be good as well. Here's a version as I see it. I don't normally go for square crops but I think the diagonal in this case makes it work alright.
Such a cute capture and I love the tall grasses. I like the repost but I also like it as posted. The first post makes it more of a vertical which emphasizes the length of the puffin and IMO this looks great. Thanks for sharing. Love it !
I like it alot Rosl. Yes the OOF grass is too bad, but this is not a typical Puffin image that makes me overlook said grass. Very, very nice :-) As far as more room in front I'd probably go for something in between the two versions.
Rosl I think the grass is just fine, this is how the bird was in reality! It looks entirely natural.
I would leave the position of the puffn as is and just make the image a little wider and a little taller, but not much either way.

I would suggest to take some from the top and put in on the bottom for the virtual feet, if you have it. A tad more on the right would be nice if you do. In addition, the image needs some pop. Perhaps some levels and curves, close to the re-post but not quite as much.
Either way, a dynamite not so run of the mill puffin image. Love the grass. Keep it. Do you have more? Please post them.
