This is a follow-up on the piping plover chick from below

I took this image about 12 days after the above picture. Definitely not as cute and in the throes of the ugly teenager phase!

Still figuring out the new Photoshop CC especially the sharpening algorithms.Did not sharpen this very much to keep the fluffy feathers as is.

    Gail:

Nice shooting angle, color harmony, clean bg, head angle.

I really get the bit about over sharpening chicks, as the fuzz gets 'crunchy' quite quickly. Perhaps a bit of selective sharping of the less fuzzy areas, such as wing, crown and eye. Looks fine as is however.

Small in frame crop really plays up his small size.

    Cheers

Yuppers. Getting uglier. Technically spot on. I'd vote for a slightly tighter crop. The two brown blobs bug me, especially the one on the ridge line just in front of the legs. The other is somewhat rectangular and is just in front of the depression behind the bird. Sharpening looks just fine for the fluffy feathers. Thanks for posting; I'd never seen this exact stage before.

Growing for sure. Nice light and low angle. Details look good. The bird looks good small in the frame to me.

Those teenage years are not kind to the plovers. It is full of pimples and acne now . Bird looks good to me. I like the colors as well. Think all I would do is make this a 16:9 crop to remove some of that dead space above the bird.

Beautiful light on this cute little guy Gail. Great detail and exposure and I really like the colors and the few rocks. I agree with Isaac about the comp too. Well done
