Summer is the time when Black-bellied Whistling Ducks will wander from the souther states and head north. In recent years we have had quite a number of them stray into the northeast. When I heard that a flock of then of them were being seen in New Jersey and about 45 minutes from my house I got there as soon as I could. The light was perfect, the birds were close and tame. This one had just taken its head out of the water and lifted up and flapped to shake the water off. Had to lower the quality of this photo way down to fit the size restrictions of the site.

Superb Isaac, IQ, the depth of the colors here really shines. I especially like the wetness of the feathers and that direct eye contact. There is a slight iridescence on the inside wing feathers which is great, and that BG, whoa! Slam dunk beautiful, congrats!
Ditto AMP. That neck rocks. It is great when you follow a lead and it works out perfectly. And we both know that that does not happen often!!!
