    Default Pied Wagtail

    Camera: Canon EOS 400D
    Lens: Canon EF 400/5.6L USM
    Focal Lenght: 400 mm
    Shutter Speed: 1/800 sec
    Aperture Value: f/5.6
    ISO: 400

Not sure about the english name of this bird but I think it is Pied Wagtail (according to a picture posted in this forum yesterday).
Once again a bird with both blacks and whites which I think makes it pretty difficult to get a good picture. Maybe would be possible to sharpen it more. But what about composition, background and position? Is it ok? What to change?

HI Mats you did well with the composition We always like placing the small bird in frame to a corner but don't think it could be moved much more to the right, maybe up a little.

The main thing here is the perch, it is large and has character, so it does compete for attention. Exposure wise you did well, some fill flash would have helped, the image is sharp and great looking bg !!! Excellent !!!

    Hi Mats,
I would probably be tempted to crop the picture in half, thus emphasizing the bird more. Sweet image!

What a neat looking bird! Agree about the perch.

I see just a hit of catch-light in the eye, maybe accentuate that just a bit if doing that is something you are comfortable with.

HI Mat - nice BG - nicer capture.

I cropped - dont usually like square centred format - but you get the idea - it takes the point of focus away from the perch.
    Lightened the eye and sharpened.

    :)

I like the repost Lance. The original image is composed well, but I prefer half the perch...

Nice bird, Mats and I agree with Lance's crop---the perch is interesting but overpowering.

Good lighting and exposure. As for the perch, may be it's there to tell us about the size of the bird? I know, I know, we don't know how big the perch is either other than..it's bigger than the bird :D
