    Default Kamtchatka Brown Bear.....The Look

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi all .....more to come from my recent trip to Russia .
Tons of images taken ....difficult to select , which one to post . So for today i have chosen this one , a big male just after coming up from sticking its head in the water in search for fish .
They came fairly close to the river edge ...where the group of photogs settled down for shooting the bears in the river fishing .
It was a great experience to watch and photograph them .....
This time image was taken at Kambalnaya River in the South West of Kamtchatka , only reachable by helicopter .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    Ef 200 - 400 IS L at 225 mm
    HH

F 6,3 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/3200 sec ; man exp , with hindsight i should have dropped the SS to 1/2000 sec to gain a bit more DOF .

Processed with C1 and PS cc 2018....slightly cropped . Left the washed out look in the BG , as the setting was foggy at the time of shooting .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread .

    Cheers Andreas

Very nice. Love all that water dripping off of him. The bear in the background is a nice touch.

Hi Andreas -- This is an unusual kind of frame , with the placement of the Bear in the rhs corner and at the same time allowing space for another in the BKG, nicely framed. Details look good and i liked the dripping fur. Certainly more DOF would have been better for the snout and gaping mouth. Though you have tried to retain the foggy feel here but to me the image appears slightly thin for my taste.

    Nicely done. TFS !

The expression on the bear's face is great! - "Hey, who stole my fish!" ROFL!

You must have been very close to the action to get this at 225mm.

Really like the placement in the frame and the other bear in the background. Fur detail looks fabulous and the drops of water really sharp.

Slightly misty - yes - but it is a key part of the story, enhances rather than detracts. Works for me, for sure! Love it!

Andreas 225mm?? gee whizz that's close I am surprised you could keep the camera still!!! It looks just about perfect to my eyes, the colours and definition leave nothing to be desired, I can even tell he's got worn down incisors!
Absolutely superb, I didn't realise they had the black patches round the eyes....... cant wait for more.

Hi Andreas - What a wonderful expression captured! Nice timing and I like the bear in the bg. Tones and colors look fine to me. I agree with your self-critique on the techs. I would prefer a sliver of space on the rhs.

    TFS,
    Rachel

This is one 'In your face' images! I just loved the expression here with framing that somehow works. I like the details and wish for more DOF. But none the less, a great sighting. Congrats
