Not as spiffy as a breeding plumaged individual or fresh juvenile, but it's fun to look at different plumages...plus it could have been in worse shape, like the other two that were also present. This particular spot always has nice green vegetation strips like we see here first thing in the morning, before crews come by and rake them away for the beach-goers that show up a few hours later.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, toned down the brighter highlights as well as lowered the saturation on the vegetation (they were glowing!). Cleaned up the reflections in the eye.
This is sweet Daniel.
Love the low POV and the front foot lifted up. Open bill is nice too.
I agree with you 100% that the green adds a lot to the image.
Perhaps this could use a point or two of blacks in the neutrals (like my picture did)?
Gail
Looks great to me. A typical worn, molting adult. What date? Love the raised foot and that you "added green whenever possible."
