Now that's a stare! Great details and light. Not sure about all the foliage, maybe it would lend itself to more of a pano crop with just a touch of the leaves.
I love that intense stare and the way the foliage frames the owl.
BG looks very smooth. What did you do in PP besides NR?
I love the clear view of the feet.
Good IQ.
If this was mine I might consider cloning out the little branch to the left of the owl but still lovely as is.
Gail
The branches most definitely stay for me. Brilliant capture well done -love the expression.
I am sure it is sharp but a little surprised you went for 1/320 sec and hand held. I like the colours but I keep looking again and wondering if it is just a tiny bit blue?
thank you all, Gail BG was a distant hill
Jon you can get sharp images with the 400 DO II hand held at 1/100sec here my ISO was maxed out so I had to drop ss

Wow, wow, wow on the stare. I would lose the small vertical branch in one millisecond. And I went with Colin's idea for a pano crop. I used a Quick Mask to lose the vertical branch. And then a bit of Gaussian Blur on the remaining leaves. All as detailed in Digital Basics II here.

I like Artie's edit, and I would also warm it up a tad. Excellent pose, what a stare! Great to have it out in the open like this.
I can see evidence of the QM technique. A darkish blotch where the stick protruded. Probably not as noticeable if no one knew.
