    Default Shining Sunbeam - Colombia

Here's another high elevation species for you - the Shining Sunbeam. These guys frequent
High Andean Forest and Páramo, habitats that are very wet between April and November.
This July frame was a set-up shot captured inside shifting clouds at 11,000 feet in the Central
Andes outside Manizales. Unlike most hummers which are best shot from the front, the trick
with this species is to get the back to show the trademark green and purple.

Just great Dorian. Details, pose, background and perch are all very nice. Caught the best part of the bird as well. If mine I would move the bird left in the frame. Get rid of about half of the dead space between the bird and the left edge and add that to the right.

Very Nice Image. I would have sharpening the eye a little bit more.

    I love the colors...

    Thanks for sharing.

    This is lovely!
I have never seen this bird IRL but the colors are superb and the IQ is wonderful.
I would move the bird a bit to the left.
I find your bold signature a bit distracting and would make it smaller and less opaque!
    A beauty of a shot!

Shweet one indeed, I agree move to the left. The colors are wonderful and then the bit of iridescence and purple! Rocks...

Oh boy what a wonderful bird, and beautifully processed. I love the fine detail, colours, look-back head angle. The semi-raised crest is neat too. Bummer about the broken end of the perch - it would have been cool to have it extend all the way out of the frame. I would love to have this in my files!!

Killer bird. Superb image quality. Looks sharp enough to my old eyes. I am not a huge fan of the broken end of the perch or the boxy crop. Or the signature. IQ looks more than good enough to go to 2X3. I almost forgot; teh over the shoulder pose is great for this species and the head angle is perfect.

More on the boxy crop: as presented there is too much room below the bird. But the image is so good that I could not resist.
