    Default Laughing Dove

Taken whilst having lunch back at the lodge. Many of the smaller birds and this Dove loved to perch right on the edge/lip of the infinity pool, bath or drink, therefore I fell it would have been rude not to have taken some frames. Lying flat on the decking this was as low as you could go without the kit getting wet, some awesome light.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Beautiful light. Beautiful bird. The bird is a bit too large in the frame for me. And I am not a fan of the shadows on the face and the breast with the sun from somewhat behind the subject.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Dear Steve,

Wonderful image of this beautiful dove. Great techs, good exposure, and such lovely clean background. I like that bit of reflection too. Sharpness is there and detail is superb.

It must be the colours, or warmth, that make this image for me - you did mention in your intro that it was captured at lunch time, but all I can think of is this lovely African sunset

Thank you so much for sharing, a pleasure to view as always.

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Nice one. The lighting gives the dove some nice depth. Most things i see on the avian forum are all front lit. Excellent background and i like the water here.

Beautiful colours light and details. I would have preferred a little smaller in the frame, I suspect if taken at 500mm it would have been ideal from my POV, it would also have had a bit more DOF to include the tail.

Thanks folks, here is the FF image, plus I've dropped a bit of Shadow too. perhaps a 16x10 format, echoing the subject may have been a better choice?

I like both versions Steve. I personally found the shadows not too strong in the OP and felt they added a more dramatic feel to the image.

I am torn between the two, I suspect the first image may have been nearer to reality (??)

I really like the subject and the lighting, but without quite a bit more room to the left of the frame the image feels really cramped.
